Damian Lewis’ Song of the Week: Wanna Grow Old in Paris

This is called ‘Wanna Grow Old in Paris’…

Who doesn’t, right?

– Damian Lewis at Hoxton Hall

Indeed.

I was lucky enough to spend a few days in Paris last summer — a city that effortlessly lives up to its reputation as one of the most beautiful and romantic places in the world. As my T-shirt proudly declared at the time, “Paris is always a good idea.”

And truly, it is.

I felt incredibly lucky to revisit Notre Dame, to be dazzled once again by the Impressionist masterpieces at the Musée d’Orsay, to wander (and happily get lost) along the side streets of the Latin Quarter, and to enjoy a drink — or two — at the legendary Café de Flore.

All of this brings me to today’s choice for Damian Lewis’ “Song of the Week”: Wanna Grow Old in Paris. Because really—who wouldn’t? And you can always catch up with all Song of the Week posts here.

Here’s what Damian had to say about the song when he dropped it as the first single from his EP, which came out just after the Paris Olympics last year. Continue reading “Damian Lewis’ Song of the Week: Wanna Grow Old in Paris”

Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis at The Tabernacle London

“Jazz is a broad church. That’s why we chose a Tabernacle. Place of residence. Place of meeting. Tent of congregation. Tent of meeting.”

-Damian Lewis

Well, ladies and gentlemen, exactly three years ago, I had a 72-hour lightning trip to London for a special weekend with fan friends and a fantastic evening of music at The Tabernacle London in Notting Hill with the one and only Damian Lewis. It was such a night with our Ginger Elvis rocking on the stage and off – he made time for everyone, VIPs and fans alike, after the gig.So please come join me in the beautiful and inspiring  music hall that is The Tabernacle London, and live or re-live (if you were lucky  enough to be there) every single detail from that glorious evening… And don’t get surprised that I am talking about A Spy Among Friends and The Radleys as Damian’s upcoming projects. They were upcoming projects three years ago and I haven’t changed a word in my original write-up .

We Celebrate Damian Lewis as a Dad!

Damian Lewis is a fantastic actor. A talented musician. A generous philanthropist. He is a skilled player on the football field. But, among all different hats he wears, that of fatherhood stands out as the most precious one. And how beautiful the stories we read and the images we get of Damian as a father. And in honor of Gully’s 18th birthday, he turned 18 yesterday, we’re celebrating the kind of father Damian has been — caring, funny, and full of love for both Gully and Manon. Happy Birthday, Gully!

Indeed.

I’m sorry I wasn’t able to share a “Song of the Week” post last week—but I promise I had a very good excuse: a four-day getaway to Paris! As my t-shirt proudly declares below, “Paris is always a good idea.” And it truly is—one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world.

I felt incredibly lucky to revisit Notre Dame, to be dazzled once again by the Impressionist masterpieces at the Musée d’Orsay, to get lost on the side streets of the Latin Quarter, and to have a drink (or two) at the legendary Café de Flore.

So we’d love to share some of our recollections of him being a dad on this Father’s Day.
