Damian Lewis’ Song of the Week: Never Judge A Man By His Umbrella

Trust is hard to come by. Honesty is in short supply. Trump is back on Twitter… This song is about secrets, lies, and spies…

Damian Lewis’ Song of the Week: Soho Tango

“This one is about meeting someone for the very first time and chatting her up on the streets of Soho and thinking I’d closed the deal and she got in the taxi and went home.” – Damian Lewis

This is Soho Tango.

What sounds like a playful Soho story turns out to be the first chapter of a love story. This week’s Song of the Week looks at Soho Tango — the song Damian Lewis wrote about thinking he’d “closed the deal”… when he hadn’t…

And before I get to unpacking this song for you, if you missed the previous “Song of the Week” posts, you can catch up with them here.

I love the playful storytelling in Damian’s songs, and Soho Tango is no exception. Boy meets girl, boy flirts with girl, boy does not get the girl… 🙂

You told jokes, and I was laughin’
I asked if I could kiss you, please

But you said “no”
And you were gone
“I ain’t kissin’ you”
I said, “Why?”
But you had flown
You said, “‘Cause I ain’t in love with you” Continue reading “Damian Lewis’ Song of the Week: Soho Tango”

Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis at The Tabernacle London

“Jazz is a broad church. That’s why we chose a Tabernacle. Place of residence. Place of meeting. Tent of congregation. Tent of meeting.”

-Damian Lewis

Well, ladies and gentlemen, exactly three years ago, I had a 72-hour lightning trip to London for a special weekend with fan friends and a fantastic evening of music at The Tabernacle London in Notting Hill with the one and only Damian Lewis. It was such a night with our Ginger Elvis rocking on the stage and off – he made time for everyone, VIPs and fans alike, after the gig.So please come join me in the beautiful and inspiring  music hall that is The Tabernacle London, and live or re-live (if you were lucky  enough to be there) every single detail from that glorious evening… And don’t get surprised that I am talking about A Spy Among Friends and The Radleys as Damian’s upcoming projects. They were upcoming projects three years ago and I haven’t changed a word in my original write-up .
