Cast Yourself in Billions!

Damianista’s note: We collectively wrote this post before the premiere of Billions Season 3. Bobby has been indicted, separated from his wife and moved Axe Capital HQ to Manhattan. ENJOY!

Greetings from the Trader’s Desk!

Here at FanFun we think there is something you should probably know: we love “Billions”! We are always trying to bring you different points of view and unique opinions on our favorite show. But, what if we were part of the show? Who would we be? What would our role be? We decided we would explore those questions in “Cast Yourself in Billions”. We each wrote up a short character description and a short scene. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we had writing them. Now on with the show!! Continue reading “Cast Yourself in Billions!”

Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis in The Misanthrope

It was 2009 when Damian played the lead role of Alceste in Martin Crimp’s modernized version of Moliere’s 17th century comedy. After his appearance in The Misanthrope he was not seen on stage again until American Buffalo six years later. Dare we say, The Misanthrope marked a turning point for Damian, the last one where he was the nearly A-list actor playing against decidedly A-list’er Keira Knightley. NOW, of course, he is not nearly anything but a full-blown highly sought commodity on stage and screen. In this post, I’ll tell you a bit about the play, then, beg your indulgence as I wax philosophical about the extent to which the themes of the play translate to Damian’s own career trajectory.

Brody Countdown 1: Waves and Ripples

To: Jessica Lazaro
From: LtCol Michael R. Faber
Subject: Hi

Hey Jess

How are you? I’m doing good. Getting used to my new job, new responsibilities. Piled Higher and Deeper as the guys with education say.

Just checking in as usual. Well, honestly – and we were always with each other at least. A guy was in the office today. Gunny with red hair and this smile. I don’t know I just had to shut my door. Continue reading “Brody Countdown 1: Waves and Ripples”

Brody Countdown 2: Lamenting Nicholas Brody

Advance Warning: This is a LONG, RAW, and EMOTIONAL piece that I had written on December 21, 2013, almost a week after Nicholas Brody died on Homeland. Just because it is long, raw and emotional, I thought I would not share it on Fan Fun with Damian Lewis. On the other hand, this is the first ever piece that I wrote on Nicholas Brody — so, in some way, this is the piece that started it all! So, why not share it with fans that love that amazing character as much as I do? Just so you know, I am at a much better place now 🙂 Having said that, I still cannot let him go…

Almost a full week has passed since the season finale, and I cannot believe that I am still heartbroken. But I am.

Do not underestimate the power of TV. Good TV shows are like good books. Each episode is a chapter and you just look forward to the next chapter, and form bonds with characters as you go and you have thoughts and sometimes hopes for them. OK, I admit it, everyone doesn’t, but I have 🙂 I love fiction, I cannot think of a life without fiction, I believe that fiction enriches life in so many different ways that good readers/viewers live many more lives than the non-readers/non-viewers. Bobby Axelrod: The Boy Whose Dad Never Came Back, Part VI

In case you missed it, you can read Part V here.

Wendy is totally right when she tells Bobby that Rebecca is a keeper. She brings out the best in Bobby. Thanks to her, Bobby sets Lara and the boys free. Thanks to her, Bobby makes a great gesture to Bruno. Thanks to her, Bobby understands one may sometimes take risks for their ideals. It is obvious that this is a match made in heaven.  And  it is up to one person to gloriously fuck it up: Bobby Axelrod – a man that lets his childhood shit run him.

While our golden couple takes control of Saler’s thanks to Sanford Bensinger siding with them against Taylor, the new year starts with a new problem for them. Continue reading “Bobby Axelrod: The Boy Whose Dad Never Came Back, Part VI”
