Another Turn: A Homeland Fan Fiction

Damianista’s note: This fan fiction was originally published in 2020 as part of Countdown to the final season of Homeland.

The final season of Homeland is premiering February 9 and, I for one, am ready to watch. Think what we will about the story of Carrie Mathison post-Brody, we can all agree that Homeland was the show that had the most impact on Damian’s fame around the world and his career going forward. The show certainly had not a minor impact on us either, your friendly bloggers of all things Damian! So even if Brody is long dead and is not likely to return even as hallucination, Homeland remains one of the big topics of conversation and writing on this blog.

The first teaser for Homeland has been released, and the show had its TCA panel, where we learned a bit about the upcoming season from friendly intrepid reporter Diane Gordon. You can read all her live tweets from the Homeland event here: Showtime #TCA20: Homeland. Continue reading “Another Turn: A Homeland Fan Fiction”

Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis at the 2016 White House Correspondents Dinner

Today’s Throwback Thursday is from when the tall one headed to Washington, D.C. to attend the 2016 White House Correspondents Dinner.

This black tie shindig, thrown by the Washington Correspondents Association, happens annually at The Washington Hilton. 2016 marked the 102nd anniversary of this dinner! You can read in great detail about the history of this organization, and it’s relationship with the White House and the president, both present and past. The stated goal of the gathering is stated as such on their website:

“Proceeds from the White House Correspondents’ Association annual dinner go toward scholarships and awards that recognize aspiring and accomplished journalists. Auctions and raffles of WHCA DINNER tickets designed to raise money for other organizations or for commercial purposes are against the policy of the WHCA.” Continue reading “Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis at the 2016 White House Correspondents Dinner”

Billions Season 5 Locations Guide

As I mentioned a billion times before, Billions is a dream show for me not only because my favorite actor is in it, but also because New York, from its landmarks to its city parks and to its quirky shops, appears as a cast member in the show! As someone who feels the only home she has in the world is the city that never sleeps, I particularly love it that Billions is taking over New York, the BIG film studio that it is, and shooting all over the place, from Manhattan to Queens to Brooklyn to The Bronx to Long Island and to northern suburbs. So I have put together this Billions Season 5 Location Guide as a loving tribute to my most favorite place on earth and a heartfelt thank you to the show creators for writing a love letter to the city.

Hope you pick and choose and take your own Billions tour in New York City and beyond and give us feedback – especially if you know about a location that is missing in this post! Oh, and in case you missed Fan Fun locations guide for the previous seasons, you can check them out here, here, here, and here. And please note that many show staples like Axe Capital HQ, Chuck’s State AG office, Axe’s luxurious penthouse or Chuck Senior’s apartment were all listed in previous seasons when they first appeared. ENJOY!

Fan Fun Movie of the Month: Keane

“I’m proud of all my work. I always turn up and try my hardest to do the best job I can, but I was proud of my Hamlet, playing Soames Forsyte in The Forsyte Saga, and I’m also very proud of a small film called Keane, which not many people saw.” – Damian Lewis

As Damian suggests, Keane is a small, independent film which not many people saw; however, it is a very serious film selected to be screened at both Cannes Film Festival and New York Film Festival in 2005 and LOVED by the critics, too. It is a movie that makes you think, and think hard. Questions pop up in your head as you watch the movie, and you have more questions than answers when you finish… Keane is a puzzle that you cannot solve, but that you cannot forget, either. It just stays with you. Continue reading “Fan Fun Movie of the Month: Keane”
