“Hello, Jazz FM listeners! I’m Damian Lewis. I’m gonna share some of my music with you on this first day of 2023.”
Could there be a better way to start the new year than hearing your favorite artist sharing his love for his (and your) favorite music on Jazz FM on New Year’s Day?
So Lewisto and I started 2023 listening to the 2-hour “Damian Lewis Blues and Swing Special” on Jazz FM. And after 2 delicious hours of music, I put together a Spotify playlist for the fans who were not able to hear the program because of annoying zone restrictions. But since that day I have been dying to put together a post with all the songs but also with what Damian talked about when he talked about the music he loved. So… Better late than never, I guess… ENJOY!
Fan Fun with Damian Lewis is eight years old today!
YES, eight years!
I vividly remember the conversation I had with Lewisto in the last weeks of 2014 about whether it would be worth keeping an online fan diary about Damian Lewis. Being the rational guy that he is, Lewisto suggested I do it only if I was confident I could commit for at least two years so it would be worth the effort.
When he was asked about how his favorite member of the Royal Family was a few years ago, Damian did not even hesitate for a moment:
Queen Elizabeth II, the second longest reigning monarch in history, passed away last week. Even if you are not a student of history, just knowing that her first Prime Minister was born in 1874 (Winston Churcill) and her last was born in 1975 (Liz Truss) is quite enough to recognize what a remarkable life and reign she had. I understand that emotions are still high about her passing, but the Queen’s life is certainly one to celebrate. And Damian has paid a tribute to the late Monarch on Twitter sharing a sweet moment he had with her once.

When he’s not running a show, co-creator of Billions, Brian Koppelman hosts a podcast called The Moment. Each hour-long session is a conversation about the creative process and pivotal moments in creative careers. Koppelman talks to people in various forms and stages of their creative lives about inflection points, the moments they sensed something shifted for them in their careers. Having listened to several of these conversations in his archive, its always a treat to hear how people get to live their professional dreams, be they restaurateurs, musicians, writers or actors. Back when he first publicized the podcast, I had this twee Twitter exchange with him. Continue reading “Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis on The Moment with Brian Koppelman”
We always hear fans say, and cannot agree with them more, that Damian Lewis can read the phone book and they can listen to him all day. Having said that, why would we have to hear Damian read the phonebook to us as we have much better books out there he could read for us?
YES! Damian narrates Audiobooks! If you have not tried it before, it is a total pleasure to have him read you a story. It feels like the equivalent of CBeebies for adults, highly recommended for bed time but also for anytime, doctor’s orders! And Damian has narrated a good variety of books that it is really easy to pick a favorite.
