I feel extremely privileged to have been a part of Damian’s fantastic first ever gig in London exactly two years ago. Then I was very lucky to attend many other magical music gigs with Damian and his brilliant band but it is very special to know that I was there at the very beginning of this thrilling musical adventure. So, please join me at Omeara London, a truly beautiful and intimate music hall, today to revisit every single detail I remember from that utterly exciting evening.
I had a 48-hour lightning trip to London for fun with fan friends and a fantastic evening of music at Hoxton Hall in East End with the one and only Damian Lewis and his fabulous band. And when I asked my blog mate Gingersnap before my trip that whether she thought I was crazy because I am flying to London for 48 hours, I got this response.
“You’re not crazy. But you have a new name. Groupie!”
Seriously, how many times do you need to travel to see a musician in action to qualify as a groupie? 🙂
It was such a magical night and I am ready to tell you all about how our Ginger Elvis has ruled on stage and off – he has made time for everyone, his guests and his fans, after the gig. He had pictures taken, gave autographs as well as bear hugs.
The day we’ve been anticipating for months has arrived. Damian’s album Mission Creep is here! We’re thrilled to be a tiny part of this fantastic adventure and proud to share today’s Press Release! (ps. I, of course, took the liberty to decorate the press release with pictures)
Although we already knew that Damian was making music with the wonderful jazz band Kansas Smitty’s and that there was talk about making an album, Damian’s return to stage with a guitar in his hands has been the most exciting and happy surprise of the year! I was extremely lucky to be at Damian’s first ever gig at Omeara London where our ‘Ginger Elvis’ ruled the stage with his originals as well as some great covers. And here is every single detail I remember from that special evening! ENJOY!
“I’m looking forward to getting out there and playing the songs I’ve written and been recording for my debut album. Be good to be back on stage, this time with a guitar in my hand.”
—Damian Lewis
You know what I did in the title, don’t you? If you know a certain ginger man who thinks he is the “second coming of Elvis” that is returning to stage with a guitar in hand, you go and title your related post after a lesser known Elvis gem 🙂
So… if you are not living under a rock, you know that Damian returned to stage, this time, with a guitar in hand turning his fantasies into reality. I have already reviewed his first three London gigs at Omeara, The Tabernacle and Hoxton Hall. Damian also took stage at Wilderness Festival, World Economic Forum in Davos and Cheltenham Jazz Festival. And not just that but he has already dropped three singles that you can hear/download: Down On the Bowery, Zaragoza, and Makin’ Plans. There is also a double-sided special 7-inch vinyl that he released on Record Store Day UK which you can order online now. Damian’s album Mission Creep is coming out on June 16 and you can pre-order it here. And it does not end there… Damian is scheduled to participate in the critically acclaimed song-writer sessions at Black Deer Festival on June 16, a stripped back set and signing of his record Mission Creep at Rough Trade East in London, and his biggest gig to date at Union Chapel on July 11. I am sure more gigs will follow. You can visit our Damian Lewis Music Page to find out about Damian’s live gigs, ticket information, reviews and more.
