Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis as Gear Head on Top Gear

Boys and their cars. And girls too, for that matter. There’s something about being behind the wheel of a nice automobile, pressing the gas, shooting ahead with the force of however many horses, and letting a machine take you where your feet can’t. Damian made his second appearance on Top Gear in June 2016 and got to drive around a bit: recklessly, dangerously, at the sort of speeds humans probably weren’t ever designed to go, at least not unaided. Yes, no doubt, there’s a rush there, the burst of power and the addictive lurching feeling of hairpin turns at top speed, the balance between control and utter abandon. One small explosion in a combustion chamber to get things moving, then the lingering burn of the fuel made from our fossils, and we’re off to the races, quite literally. And for those few seconds of sheer joy, you sorta want to forget that these are the very machines that have summarily sent our planet on a not-so-slow burn. Alas, let’s keep this post about joy, and the joy of watching Damian play with cars. Read on!

51 Birthday Cakes for Damian Lewis

Today Damian Lewis turns 51! Happy Birthday Damian, from the Fan Fun With Damian Lewis Team and all the fandom around the world! Every January the Team begins contemplating what we can do differently to celebrate Damian’s birthday in February and year after year we strive to be creative and unique. As you know, Damian has suffered a great heartache with the loss of Helen McCrory so this year we wanted to try and bring a smile to his face. What better way to do that than to gift him 51 birthday cakes! We planned, conspired and mobilized the fandom in the back channels of Twitter, Instagram or Facebook DM’s, as well as e-mail, to accomplish this secret project.

Fans could make/bake/decorate their own cake, buy/design a cake from a bakery, or create an electronic cake using a photo editing program. Fans decorated their cakes from traditional birthday toppers to innovative displays of their favorite characters and scenes from television shows or movies that Damian has portrayed. Any dessert – from cakes, cookies and pies to tarts, cupcakes and pastries – the sky was the limit. The endeavor resulted in 51+ of the most imaginable and artistic desserts collected and compiled here for you all to enjoy. Cakes and desserts from all over the world! And guess what? The Team will be creating a picture collage of the cakes and desserts to send directly to Damian. On behalf of the entire Fan Fun with Damian Lewis Team, we want to thank all those who participated.

The project was easy, fun and most importantly, bakers could eat the result! Read along with us as we share photos of each cake or dessert one-by-one with detailed descriptions, baker’s name and baker’s location. Oh, and there is a surprise at the very end waiting for you. Enjoy these fat-free, zero-calorie virtual desserts! 🙂

A Real-life Football Star: Annie’s Dream Role for Damian Lewis

Today’s dream role for Damian Lewis comes from Annie, a big Damian Lewis and an even bigger Liverpool FC fan!

Annie has been a massive LFC supporter since 1977 – she remembers crying behind her mom’s sofa when Manchester United beat Liverpool in the FA Cup final! She believes LFC supporters are the best with the best songs and have some of the most memorable matches in football history! Her absolute hero is Steven Gerrard whom she was so lucky to see him play so many times but unfortunately never met in person… yet!

Well, Annie, I am sure Damian shares your sentiments both about Liverpool FC and Stevie Gerrard!

Seven Years with Damian Lewis

DRUMROLL!

Fan Fun with Damian Lewis is seven years old today!

Here we are, a bunch of inspired fans, 2557 days,  1226 blog posts and over  3.15 million views from 229 countries later… absolutely thrilled and totally beaming about how far we have come!

I had a conversation with Lewisto as I was pondering, in the last weeks of 2014, whether it would be worth keeping an online fan diary about Damian Lewis. Being the rational guy that he is, Lewisto suggested I run with this only if I was confident I could commit for at least two years so it would be worth the effort. Lighting the Christmas Tree

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Now that we have the Rockefeller Christmas Tree lit up, winter holidays are officially here… And the beauty is in the fact that everyone is celebrating something. It is Christmas, or it is Hannukah, or it is Kwanzaa, or it is Winter Solstice, or it is New Year’s or it is Festivus for the rest of us (Seinfeld, anyone?)… 😀

And, whatever you hold holy, Happy Holidays! Continue reading “Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory Lighting the Christmas Tree”
