And in celebration of England becoming a finalist in a major football tournament for the first time in 55 years, our Throwback Thursday today takes us to Will, a football movie Damian made in 2011, that is about Liverpool playing in the 2005 Champions League Final Match in Istanbul, Turkey, yes, my native country! As the great Charlie Crews would say “everything is connected” 😀
Well, boys and girls, some of us have been waiting for this for thirty years.
Yes – THIRTY YEARS!
And, after three long decades, Liverpool has once again won the English Premier League Title! I understand that while it may not be the event of the year for many of you, I am not uncertain it is a huge highlight for the man to whom this blog is dedicated 😀
30 years of hurt over. Tears of joy.#YNWA@LFC Thank you Chelsea for making Man City “slip up”……

When asked about what he is watching on TV at Times Talks London back in 2014, Damian first talks about the usual suspects including Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Game of Thrones and then adds that on top of his recording list is ALWAYS Match of the Day. And many thanks go to Bookworm for reminding me of a Homeland Fun Fact about Match of the Day! Remember the scene in Homeland Pilot where Carrie notices Brody’s almost jazz-like finger tapping…
…it turns out Damian is finger tapping to Match of the Day tune there. You can hear the story from the man himself on the Commentary for the Pilot on Homeland Season 1 DVD and even hear Damian humming the tune for Claire
English Premiere League (EPL) is starting this weekend! We blogged last year about Damian loving his footie and being a HUGE Liverpool fan here and we wish LFC the best of luck in the 2017-18 season! We will have a big party here on the blog should they finish at the top!
I have no idea if the Lewis boys will attend the first Liverpool match of the season — Watford does not seem to be a long way from London, it is, in fact, part of the Tube system — like they did back in February to see Liverpool vs Tottenham at Anfield but I hope they enjoy the match either in the stadium or in front of the TV!
