Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis’ Last Day on Homeland Set

Nicholas Brody left us forever three years ago today marking Homeland Season 3 finale as the most horrific hour in the history of television for the “Brody widows” among us — a very select group of women! —  who have still not been able to get used to the idea of Homeland without him! We were simply devastated the day Brody died in Season 3 and extremely ecstatic the day Brody came back for 5 minutes in Season 4. And while most of us have been able to move on to Bobby Axelrod while carrying Nicholas Brody in our hearts, a world without Brody still hurts. A Tribute to Everyone’s Favorite Scene in Billions Season 1

“Pretend we’re having an argument.” —Bobby Axelrod

A good hour of television absolutely starts with good writing and I pride myself in calling Willie Reale, the writer of Billions Season 1 Episode 10 Quality of Life, a genius way before I find out that he is, in fact, one! I don’t know if you are familiar with MacArthur Fellowships also known as “Genius Grants” but Mr. Reale is a recipient of this fellowship “in recognition of his ingenuity in creating theater and theater education programs for young people.” Bravo!

Quality of Life, with Donnie’s memorial service being at its heart, has a number of moving parts; however, Mr. Reale delivers the story seamlessly with a number of timely back and forths between the memorial service and all else going on and the episode’s director Karyn Kusama perfectly translates the writing into action. And, in my humble opinion, Brian Koppelman’s tweet sharing with us that the fake argument scene between Axe and Dollar Bill was Reale’s idea alone deserves standing ovation for this brilliant writer! This Just In! Damian Lewis Joins the Cast of Ocean’s Eight

UPDATE: Even though Damian was confirmed on 12/06/2016 to be a part of Ocean’s Eight, he withdrew from the project probably due to schedule conflicts. Richard Armitage took over the role Damian was reported to play in the movie.

We reported more than a month ago about Damian Lewis being spotted on Ocean’s Eight movie set. We got no word about Damian being in the movie previously and so we were surprised to find out he was on the set. Well, to be honest, my first thought was that he could be visiting one of the cast members, because I never thought he would be in the movie. Damian has been filming Billions Season 2 in NYC and I don’t think an actor can manage to shoot a TV show and a movie simultaneously… well, unless he has a time-turner (Harry Potter, anyone?) 😀
