Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis’ Broadway Debut in Hamlet

Recently, Lewisto and I were in the beautiful Belasco Theater to see the brilliant play Appropriate with Sarah Paulson and Corey Stoll aka Mike Prince from Billions…

…but Corey Stoll is not the only connection to Damian here. Belasco Theater is where our guy made his Broadway debut as Laertes to Ralph Fiennes’ Hamlet back in 1995. As the wise Charlie Crews once said “everything’s connected” and so we travel back to that time  and chase a 24 year old Englishman in New York!

Cynthia has had work experience in radio and TV for more than 35 years.  She has been a popular radio host, a TV news anchor, producer and a medical and consumer reporter. She has won a number of awards for her writing and reporting — including an Emmy! And, in addition to all this, Cynthia is a Damian Lewis fan. We continue our walk through “Damian Lewis on Stage” memory lane today with Damian’s Broadway debut in Hamlet, an experience our favorite guy calls a “growing up, coming of age experience” in his career.

Damian does his Broadway debut as Laertes to Ralph Fiennes’ Hamlet in 1995. The Almeida Theatre production is staged first at Hackney Empire in March 1995, and after its successful run in London, it comes to Broadway in the summer of 1995 — OMG, yes, almost twenty two years ago!
