“From the Trader’s Desk” Follow the Breadcrumbs…. Billions S7E11 “Axe Global”

‘Cause what you see you might not get
And we can bet, so don’t you get souped yet
You’re scheming on a thing that’s a mirage
I’m trying to tell you now, it’s sabotage
Sabotage – Beastie Boys

Well, ladies and gentlemen, here we are – the penultimate episode of Billions!

As the lyrics above state, what you see you might not get, and I do think what we didn’t see in this episode is going to turn out to be way more important than what we did. Let’s get into it.

Prince is so confident and so cocky he never once thinks he is being lured into a trap. He thinks he is omnipotent, knows all, sees all. That would be the only reason he would have called a sit-down to talk peace. You only talk peace if you think you are in the stronger position, as then you can set the terms. “From the Trader’s Desk” Don’t Kick the Hornet’s Nest! Billions S7E10 “Enemies List”

They cursed and buried him along with shame
And thought his timeless soul had gone
In empty burning hell, unholy one
But he’s returned to prove them wrong, so wrong
Bark at the Moon – Ozzy Osbourne

Hello and welcome to this week’s From the Trader’s Desk. What an episode this week! Billions sure has been bringing it the last few weeks. And if these last two episodes are any indication, we are in for a wild ride the next two weeks!

I wait for this episode every season – the one when Axe wears his metal shirt, and an accompanying song plays during the scene. I have a whole post talking about the significance of the shirts and songs and have tried to make predictions for the upcoming season. Sometimes I was right (Black Sabbath in S3, Rainbow in S5) and sometimes, like this season, I was wrong. Slayer was not on my metal bingo card, and I go into why in an updated “Bobby Axelrod – a Man and his Music”. Continue reading ““From the Trader’s Desk” Don’t Kick the Hornet’s Nest! Billions Season 7: Whose Side Are You On? Prince or The Revolution?

Mike Prince is paving his way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but along the way he has battered and bruised even those closest to him. Who will still be standing with him in the coming war with Axe and Co.?

Our blog-mate, TheTailThatWagsTheDog, came up with the idea of predicting who will stand on what team.

So, as we get close to the series finale of Billions we’re predicting who will be on Team Prince or The Revolution.

“From the Trader’s Desk”: I have questions…. Billions S7E9 “Game Theory Optimal”

What you gonna do
Time’s caught up with you
Now you wait your turn
You know there’s no return
Hand of Doom – Black Sabbath

It’s Friday, so it’s time for “From the Trader’s Desk” to dive into Billions S7E9 “Game Theory Optimal.”

This was a great episode that had all the characteristics of what we love about Billions – drama, double crosses, and bold moves. I chose the lyrics from Black Sabbath’s “Hand of Doom” because as a viewer, I felt the impending doom of Wendy, Taylor, and Wags. Time caught up with our brave trio, but they have two aces in the hole that will hopefully help them save the day.

I try to change up the Trader’s Desk every once in a while to make it interesting, so this week my approach is “I have questions…”. I’ll state my question, then discuss what I think may or may not be the answer. Please share what you think in the comments. Continue reading ““From the Trader’s Desk”: I have questions…. “From the Trader’s Desk”: Breakout the Tux, it’s Casino Night! Billions S7E7 “DMV”

You see life through distorted eyes
You know you have to learn
The execution of your mind
You really have to turn
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath – Black Sabbath

After a brief hiatus, the Trader’s Desk is back, and we are diving into Billions S7E7 “DMV”!

I chose the above lyrics from Black Sabbath because oh my, did Philip see Prince in a new light this week. And I think he learned something about himself as well.

I am going to break this week’s post into three parts: the driving test incident, Prince being a pure tyrant and possibly turning another employee against him, and Casino Night, which was my favorite part of the episode.
