Damian Lewis’ Song of the Week: King

Welcome back, everyone, to another Damian Lewis Song of the Week!

This week, we’re diving into King, possibly the coolest song Damian has ever written. So, let’s go!

Two years ago, when I sat down with Damian backstage, I asked him something I had been wondering for a while:

Would he ever write a song about Henry VIII?

At the time, he had just finished filming Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, so it didn’t feel like a stretch. Damian had already shown how he could take stories and characters from his acting work and turn them into songs. Never Judge a Man by His Umbrella was inspired by A Spy Among Friends and the story of Kim Philby, while Fix Me Up—formerly Suck My Blood—came out of The Radleys.

So why not Henry? Continue reading “Damian Lewis’ Song of the Week: King”

Damian Lewis’ Song of the Week: Sweet Chaos

“Sweet Chaos is a story of a man whose life is gilded, charmed, and blessed. A man in control upon whom chaos is visited, but the chaos releases all manner of wonderful things. A freedom.” – Damian Lewis

Welcome back, everyone, to another Damian Lewis Song of the Week feature!

Now that Sweet Chaos has been out in the world for more than a month, it feels like the perfect time to revisit the song that started it all: the album’s title track – its namesake – and first single. In my opinion, Sweet Chaos introduces us to the album’s themes, and feels like the key to understanding the entire project.

Before we dive into today’s song, readers can catch up with previous posts from our Song of the Week series here. And you can listen/order Sweet Chaos here.

Now, let’s go!

Behind-the-Scenes ‘Sweet Chaos’ with Damian Lewis: A Road Diary

Two weeks ago, I wrote about the record store tour.

This time, it’s all about everything that happened around it.

Before we begin, I owe you a small apology. I’ve been a little late with this post because I spent all but nine days of the last month travelling—following Damian around England before exploring Scotland and York with my husband—so writing had to wait until I finally made it home.

But now that I’ve unpacked and caught up on some sleep, it’s time to look back on one wonderfully chaotic week with Damian.

Seven shows.

Six cities.

Priceless memories.

This was the first time I followed an entire Damian Lewis tour from beginning to end, and every stop had its own personality. From the excitement of opening night in Leeds to the grand finale in Kingston, it wasn’t just about the music. It was about endless train journeys, wonderful friendships, lots of laughter, and all the “sweet chaos” that happened offstage.

A Week of Sweet Chaos: Following Damian Lewis Through Seven Album Launch Shows and Signings

Damian Lewis performing at Headrow House (in partnership with Crash Records) in Leeds, UK, June 5, 2026

I did it!

Seven shows in seven days.

Leeds. Liverpool. Liverpool again. Marlborough. London. Brighton. Kingston.

And after seven shows in seven days, countless photos and videos, several train journeys, hotel rooms, and a huge quantity of Coke Zero (which my travel companions and I declared the official drink of the ‘Sweet Chaos’ Album Launch tour), I sat down to write about it all.

Because there is far too much to fit into a single article, my review is going to come in two parts: This first article is about the shows themselves: the music, the stories, the venues, the fans, and the people who made this week so special. The second will be more of a road diary, covering each city and all the little adventures that happened along the way…

So let’s go!

Damian Lewis’ Song of the Week: Sweet Chaos

Damian Lewis performing live at Dolans Warehouse, Limerick, Ireland, October 17 2025

Welcome back, everyone, to another Damian Lewis “Song of the Week” feature!

With only a few days to go until Damian’s new album Sweet Chaos arrives on June 5, this feels like the perfect time to revisit the song that introduced us to Damian’s second album era.

But before we dive into today’s song, readers can catch up with previous posts from our Song of the Week series here.

Today we’re talking about the song that gives the album its title: “Sweet Chaos”. Not just because it was the first single released from the record, but because the more we learn about this album — and now that we finally have the full lyrics — the more Sweet Chaos feels like the key to understanding the entire project.
