Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis Receiving The Britannia Award

Always the Ham

A significant moment for Damian in 2018 was receiving an award for his artistry. I do not shy away in saying he is the most talented actor of our generation and it seems BAFTA LA agreed. Damian received the well-deserved and long overdue BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Award for Excellence in Television on October 26, 2018 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

The Britannia Awards are BAFTA Los Angeles’ highest accolades, recognizing both outstanding British talent and exceptional international artistry through an actor’s body of work. It’s no secret around here that Damian is talented and exceptional – for more than a decade and a half he has enticed and intrigued audiences with highly complex, compromised, flawed characters he has brought to life on television, from steadfast Dick Winters, constipated Soames Forsyte, and quirky Charlie Crews to damaged Nicholas Brody, radical Henry VIII and currently, the ruthless Bobby Axelrod.

But where did it all begin?

Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis Voicing the Statue of George Orwell

His voice. That distinguished, recognizable voice. Yes, THAT voice. Whether it’s soothing poetry reads, children’s bedtime stories or a narrated documentary, we know that voice! I’ve often said Damian could sell me a tube of toothpaste should he ever voice a commercial ad, whether Crest, Colgate, Rembrandt – hell, take your pick. And you can bet your last dollar the company stocks would soar soon after the commercial aired…so much so, Bobby Axelrod would be proud.

Many of his U.S. fans think his British accent alone is dreamy, but combine that with his velvety tone, it’s Mozart to anyone’s ears – always with the right amount of inflection, emphasis and dramatic pause. And perfectly modulated to portray emotions of wrath, bewilderment or exhilaration. That is our beloved Damian Lewis.

In November, 2017 the Guardian announced that Damian would be voicing the talking statue of George Orwell! Continue reading “Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis Voicing the Statue of George Orwell”

A Misunderstood Genius: Gingersnap’s Dream Role for Damian Lewis

About this project: I started thinking what meaty role I’d like to see Damian play when I shared my idea with Damianista. She said go for it. I wrote my piece and it sat collecting dust waiting for others to think of their dream role. I had all but given up when Damianista wrote her dream role, and it snowballed from there. Now we have over 20 dream role contributions thanks to the fans! We started publishing the dream roles and then the unthinkable happened. Damian lost Helen. We lost Helen. The world lost Helen. Such a deep, deep wound. We needed to push the pause button for obvious reasons and we are now resuming the series, starting with mine. We will publish everyone’s dream role thereafter. Here we go (again)!

Chameleon. That’s the first word that comes to mind when I think of Damian’s acting abilities. He can play anything, and brilliantly so! Over the years many have proposed ideal roles they could see him portray.

51 Birthday Cakes for Damian Lewis

Today Damian Lewis turns 51! Happy Birthday Damian, from the Fan Fun With Damian Lewis Team and all the fandom around the world! Every January the Team begins contemplating what we can do differently to celebrate Damian’s birthday in February and year after year we strive to be creative and unique. As you know, Damian has suffered a great heartache with the loss of Helen McCrory so this year we wanted to try and bring a smile to his face. What better way to do that than to gift him 51 birthday cakes! We planned, conspired and mobilized the fandom in the back channels of Twitter, Instagram or Facebook DM’s, as well as e-mail, to accomplish this secret project.

Fans could make/bake/decorate their own cake, buy/design a cake from a bakery, or create an electronic cake using a photo editing program. Fans decorated their cakes from traditional birthday toppers to innovative displays of their favorite characters and scenes from television shows or movies that Damian has portrayed. Any dessert – from cakes, cookies and pies to tarts, cupcakes and pastries – the sky was the limit. The endeavor resulted in 51+ of the most imaginable and artistic desserts collected and compiled here for you all to enjoy. Cakes and desserts from all over the world! And guess what? The Team will be creating a picture collage of the cakes and desserts to send directly to Damian. On behalf of the entire Fan Fun with Damian Lewis Team, we want to thank all those who participated.

The project was easy, fun and most importantly, bakers could eat the result! Read along with us as we share photos of each cake or dessert one-by-one with detailed descriptions, baker’s name and baker’s location. Oh, and there is a surprise at the very end waiting for you. Enjoy these fat-free, zero-calorie virtual desserts! 🙂

Marry, Shag, Banish – Billions Characters

Damianista’s Note: We originally shared this post during Season 4 of Billions. We thought it would be fun to share it again before Billions Season 6 premiers on Showtime on January 23. Enjoy and play along!

It’s game time!

Marry, Shag, Kill is a popular game in which players are presented with the names of three celebrities. Of the options presented, you must pick one to marry, one to shag and one to kill. But instead of killing, we’d rather banish to an island and instead of utilizing real celebrity names, we will play using Billions characters. Each of us has picked one Billions character to marry, one to shag and one to banish. You can play along, too, in the comments section or during your next road trip or dinner party!

So welcome to Marry, Shag, Banish: Billions Characters Version! Let’s get started.
