Top Damian Lewis Moments 2016:
White House Correspondents Dinner

Happy belated Christmas, everyone! I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season. Minnesota has been quite chilly and snowy this winter, we are totally living up to our bitter, tundra-like reputation!

Painfully accurate.

Since it’s been far too dangerous to venture outside, I’ve been hunkered down inside, hiding under a blanket, getting some awesome posts written! I’m pleased to bring you a moment from the tall one’s year-specifically from Saturday, April 16th, when he headed to Washington, D.C. to attend the 2016 White House Correspondents Dinner.

This black tie shindig, thrown by the Washington Correspondents Association, happens annually at The Washington Hilton. This year marked the 102nd anniversary of this dinner! You can read in great detail about the history of this organization, and it’s relationship with the White House and the president, both present and past. The stated goal of the gathering is stated as such on their website:

Auctions and raffles of WHCA DINNER tickets designed to raise money for other organizations or for commercial purposes are against the policy of the WHCA.” Continue reading “Top Damian Lewis Moments 2016:

Throwback Thursday: Vanity Fair Photoshoot 2015

Ah, the Vanity Fair British Invasion shoot: where do I even start with this sweet highlight of 2015? Stunning shots of the many actors who have crossed the pond and made it big on screens in the US. The pages in the magazine were lovely, but the video and short film accompanying the shoot was to die for.

Vanity Fair has a series of videos and a special March issue about how the British actors have invaded — and maybe even conquered — Hollywood.

Well, Hollywood has always, and rightly so, admired and respected great British actors, say Jeremy Irons, Judi Dench, or Michael Kaine. But the on-going invasion is mostly done by a new generation of Brits who have now become “household names”  in the US — some more than the others in my household 🙂 They sometimes fascinate us in British movies and TV shows, and sometimes play Americans in American movies and TV shows. And, thanks to their perfect American accents, some fans may actually find out much later that they are, in fact, British!

Just to drop a few names… some of them may be surprising! Let’s start with our own boy, Damian Lewis, but also Dominic West, Idris Elba, James Purefoy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne, Dan Stevens, James McAvoy, Tom Hiddleston… And, the ladies… Keira Knightley, Michelle Dockery, Amy Adams, Felicity Jones, Rosamund Pike, and many, many others.
