TOP Damian Lewis Moments 2017: Damian’s Summer

You can ask, and rightly so, why we call Damian’s summer a Top Moment of the year. Well, because, Damian constantly worked during summer months in the last six years, Homeland 2011-2013, Wolf Hall 2014, and Billions 2015-2016. There were obviously weekend escapes, especially during Homeland shoot in North Carolina, which Helen makes sound wonderful in an interview with Evening Standard…

“We went to the Appalachian Mountains, skinny-dipping in the white waters, camping…”

…still, there was always work to come back to at the end of the weekend. The fact that they started shooting Billions Season 3 in September this year made it possible for our guy to fully enjoy the summer with his family. Thus, Summer of 2017 certainly qualifies as a top moment of the year!

I will never forget the moment at The Goat stage door back in May when a fan asked Damian about what he would be doing between The Goat and Billions. Damian responded promptly:

“I am going to have a summer.”

TOP Damian Lewis Moments 2017: Philanthropy

What’s the key to happiness? Gratitude. And what’s the key to gratitude? Giving! The great irony of genuine heartfelt philanthropy is that, at its core, it’s just about the most selfish thing one can do. It feeds the soul in ways that nothing else can. And it’s a self-fulfilling cycle: with more giving, comes more gratitude. Really, for most people with beating hearts, after a certain age, when you’re surrounded by all the “stuff”, all the trappings of comfort and warmth, the richest luxury is to able to give some of it back, to your community, to causes you care about.

It seems Damian, in his myriad charitable and philanthropic pursuits, has figured out that formula well. You’ve heard about several of these pursuits already, from his relationship with the Sohana Research Fund to Soccer Match for Grenfell. Here are a few more pieces of evidence that Damian doesn’t take any of his success for granted and gives with all his heart whenever and whereever he can.

Let’s Give to Sohana Research Fund This Holiday Season!

Today is Giving Tuesday! It is a a global day of giving we celebrate on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and kick off the charitable season! So it’s time to be thankful for all the good stuff in our lives and focus on our holiday giving.

Sohana Collins is a young teenager who was born with RDEB which means she lacks the protein that holds her skin together. Kids with RDEB have extremely fragile skin that they are sometimes called “butterfly children.” Lots of activities we take for granted as easy routines in our daily lives are a struggle for them. Can you imagine a day where your dressing up takes up to two hours and eating and drinking cause blisters in your mouth and throat? These kids have to deal with this kind of pain every single day. Besides, they are under extra risk to develop skin cancer later in life and their life expectancy is not very long. That is why Sohana’s parents Sharmila and James Collins founded Sohana Research Fund to raise awareness as well as funds for research to ultimately have a cure for this terrible skin condition.
