Happy Fackham Birthday, Damian!

Today Damian Lewis turns double nickels, 55! Happy Birthday Damian, from the Fan Fun with Damian Lewis Team and all the fandom around the world! Every January the Team begins contemplating what we can do differently to celebrate Damian’s birthday and year after year we strive to be creative and unique. In 2022 we baked and decorated 51 Birthday Cakes, in 2023 we mixed 52 Celebratory Cocktails, in 2024 we dedicated 53 songs to him by other artists, and in 2025 we picked 54 of our favorite Damian Lewis songs. We’ve been bakers, we’ve been mixologists, and we’ve been DJs. Now it’s time to play Critics Choice by picking our favorite Damian Lewis character from television, film, or theatre.

We planned, conspired and mobilized the fandom in the back channels of Twitter (X), Instagram or Facebook DM’s, as well as e-mail, to accomplish this secret project. With our idea set in motion the goal remained the same…to bring a smile to Damian’s face. The task was simple: choose your favorite Damian Lewis character he’s ever played and tell us why.

TOP Damian Lewis Moments 2025: Lord Davenport Leads the Laughs in Fackham Hall

One of the top moments this year has been Fackham Hall, Damian’s gloriously unhinged spoof of the British period drama! It is now showing at a movie theater near you in the US and the UK but also available for streaming on major streaming platforms like AppleTV, Amazon, Fandango and such.

I managed to catch an early screening on December 3 — but only after Lewisto, my husband, asked ChatGPT whether it was medically safe for me to watch a comedy so soon after surgery. I know, I know! His fear was that I might laugh so hard my stitches would burst. Honestly, the conversation was almost as funny as the movie itself. And I’m happy to report that my stitches remained intact— my composure, less so 🙂

Going into the film, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m not a huge fan of recent American comedies — give me oldies like Some Like It Hot or The Apartment any day — but I absolutely adore British humour. That perfect dryness, that glorious deadpan delivery. The kind of humor where someone says something outrageous with the emotional tone of a weather forecast. The cast of Fackham Hall gets this completely: the straighter their faces, the harder you laugh.

Unpacking the Fackham Hall Trailer: Damian Lewis Leads a Hysterically Funny Ride

Christmas is coming early this year! Fackham Hall is Damian’s gift to us, arriving at the movie theaters in the US and Canada (limited) on December 5, and in the UK on December 12! I’m typically first in line to catch Damian’s movies on opening day, but with a surgery coming up, I’m not sure when I’ll get the doctor’s green light to go to the movie theater. And, of course, there’s the extra dilemma—will it even open near me here in North Carolina, or should I be in New York to see it? Either way, I promise a full review as soon as I see the film! (Update 11/12/2025: Yes, this is a nationwide release, and Fackham Hall is coming to cinemas in North Carolina as well. Yay!)

In the meantime, wouldn’t it be fun to dive into the trailer? Did you know there’s a red band version with cheekier jokes and a green band one that’s kid-friendly? I didn’t! The trailer is the perfect sneak peek into the world of the Davenports, and I can’t wait to share my observations of the trailer with you. Please come join me in a first visit to Fackham Hall… Continue reading “Unpacking the Fackham Hall Trailer: Damian Lewis Leads a Hysterically Funny Ride”
