If you have been following this blog for some time,  you certainly know about my obsession with Homeland and Brody in particular. And so you probably think this post is yet another one about my all-time favorite fictional character…

Well, you’re wrong! 🙂

This post is about Damian Lewis and My Homeland – the country that I was born and raised in: Turkey. I have been inspired to write this post in London in August 22 when Damian signed the set list I lifted at his first live music gig in Turkish:

“Is this a young Damian Lewis?” The Story of an Old Picture *UPDATED*

It all started with a tweet back in 2015.

What Mr. Corney refers to in his tweet is Sports Life Stories: John Barnes  – a 2015 ITV documentary about the life and career of the legendary LFC footballer John Barnes. And 1:24 minutes into the documentary, John Barnes has a training session with a handful of teenagers one of which looks exactly like Damian! Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis in Will – A Football Movie

As I was thinking about Damian during England vs Denmark semi-final match in Euro 2020 last week, these pictures made my day. Damian was there at Wembley, with Gully and pals, to watch the game!

And in celebration of England becoming a finalist in a major football tournament for the first time in 55 years, our Throwback Thursday today takes us to Will, a football movie Damian made in 2011, that is about Liverpool playing in the  2005 Champions League Final Match in  Istanbul, Turkey, yes, my native country! As the great Charlie Crews would say “everything is connected” 😀
