From Homeland to Shakespeare: Damian Lewis Narrates Audiobooks

This post is long overdue. We always hear fans say, and cannot agree with them more, that Damian Lewis can read the phone book and they can listen to him all day. Having said that, why would we have to hear Damian read the phonebook to us as we have much better books out there he could read for us?

YES! Damian narrates Audiobooks! If you have not tried it before, it is a total pleasure to have him read you a story. It feels like the equivalent of CBeebies for adults, highly recommended for bed time but also for anytime, doctor’s orders! And Damian has narrated a good variety of books that it is really easy to pick a favorite.

Damian Lewis on James Bond: Books, Movies and Rumors *UPDATED*

Rumor has had it since June 2015 that Damian Lewis is in “the running” to be the next James Bond… Given that it seems Daniel Craig is coming back to play the world’s most famous secret agent again, the rumor does not hold much water. However, it is such an EXCITING and FUN rumor that we could not resist blogging about it earlier here and are still having fun with it! And I have been having fun personally not just because my favorite actor might be in the running for such a high profile role, but also because it just cracks me up seeing how fired up everyone has been about the whole James Bond enterprise. While some push their favorite actor for the role — a long list including, and not limited to, Damian Lewis, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill, Richard Armitage, Aidan Turner, and Tom Hiddleston — others root for their favorite actress such as Gillian Anderson or Cate Blanchett to be the first female bond. Well, why not?

What tops the fun for me is how the possibility of Damian being the next Bond has divided people on Social Media with tweets commenting on, YES, his hair color! “Yes, the world is ready for a ginger Bond” versus “Do you really want to have a ginger Bond?” tweets have come in proving the point we’ve made here on the blog earlier that people just cannot be indifferent to the guy’s hair color. Freakin’ unbelievable!

Damian Lewis portraying MI6 agent Hector Meredith in Our Kind of Traitor on big screen helped revive the question about Bond last year. Here is Today Show’s Savannah Guthrie being pretty direct about it.  Continue reading “Damian Lewis on James Bond: Books, Movies and Rumors *UPDATED*”

Rumor has had it since June 2015 that Damian Lewis is in “the running” to be the next James Bond… It’s a rumor… So probably not true. But it is an EXCITING and FUN rumor that we have blogged about earlier here and are still having fun with it! And I have been having fun personally not just because my favorite actor may be in the running for such a high profile role, but also because it just cracks me up seeing how opinionated everyone is about the whole James Bond enterprise. Everyone is so fired up pushing their favorite Bond candidate — say he is Damian Lewis, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill, Richard Armitage, Aidan Turner, or Tom Hiddleston… A pretty impressive list!

And what tops the fun for me is how the possibility of Damian being the next Bond has divided people on Social Media with tweets commenting on, YES, his hair color! “Yes, the world is ready for a ginger Bond” versus “Do you really want to have a ginger Bond?” tweets have come in proving the point we’ve made here on the blog earlier that people just cannot be indifferent to the guy’s hair color. Freakin’ unbelievable!

If it was up to us, Damian Lewis would need to work 24/7 :)

I told you earlier about how many blog posts come out of our casual conversations within the team. This is yet another one.

Being the two huge Harry Potter fans that we are, Bookworm and I are talking about the NEW Harry Potter play with now adult Harry & Co. and focusing on Harry’s son Albus Severus the other day. And just because we really want our favorite actor to have a part in our favorite fiction, I come up with the idea that, being red head and all, why not Damian play the adult Ron Weasley? And Bookworm comes up with a much better idea that I will not spoil here – she should write on that Harry Potter character she believes Damian would kill in! So… you get the idea… Going deep in conversation about roles we think Damian Lewis would be PERFECT for is a favorite pastime in our team and our typical joke is if it had been up to us, the poor guy would have to run from set to set and set to stage and back for 24/7 and not have a minute to spare for his family or for his sleep or for himself… So… Thank God it is not up to us! Damian’s Legacy

While we await US release of Queen of the Desert and Silent Storm, and know that Damian is currently hard at work on delivering Billions to us in the new year, my installment this week will be a collection of random thoughts.

First, there is talk of the next Bond all over Twitter. Some folks seem to think the decision is already made and react accordingly. Most folks just want their own opinions of the matter out there, yay or nay. We’re in wait and see mode over here. And while I don’t really want this artist we love so much put out there, exposed to the awful scrutiny that roles like the Bond franchise bring, him being awarded the franchise, even if it is for just a couple films, will undoubtedly propel him higher in the ranks of the A-list, whatever that means. That and the fact he’ll get to work in his beloved home town may be things he might like, right? So, yeah, whatever he likes, we like. Yes, we are that brand of ride-or-die fans over here.

So much for Bond.
