Hello – Holliedazzle here! Welcome, one and all, to the Life with Charlie Crews series wrap up! In this post, we’ll all be weighing in with our highlights (and lowlights) of the entire series. Let’s jump right in, shall we?
At the center of Life lies the heart and mind of a man who gets his life back, along with a $50M settlement and his LAPD badge, after 12 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. Charlie Crews is quirky and charming and funny, but vulnerable and even sinister at times. He’s a walking proof of the wide range Damian Lewis can deliver as an actor. No wonder New York Magazine calls him “the you-can’t take-your-eyes-off-him star” in Life. Damian takes a good network show and elevates it to another level.
It’s game time! Growing up I loved watching 70’s/80’s game shows. Remember these catch phrases?
“Come on down!”
“No whammies, no whammies, no whammies…and STOP!”
“I’d like to buy a vowel.”
And I’m in heaven with the recent revivals of Match Game, Celebrity Family Feud, and To Tell the Truth. I even DVR old Match Game episodes from time to time to watch my favorite panelists Brett Somers and Charles Nelson Reilly like I did when I watched reruns as a child.
If it’s a game, you can count me in! I often host Bunco round-robins, hold Whiz Spades tournaments, and throw Mexican Train Dominoes events. I am no emcee–I have to be in on the action and playing. Games are great fun, whether spending family time together or as an added bonus to your dinner party with friends. Even drinking games like Never Have I Ever and Marry, Shag Kill are hysterical to play.
Which brings me to Marry, Shag, Kill (our version is Marry, Shag, Banish to an Island).
Hello, Fan Fun readers! It feels like it has been a long time since I last sat down to write for the site. I’m so glad to be back again, joining in on all the fun!
As a burlesque performer, I get to combine my favorite things a lot. My costuming skills, my love of certain characters or styles, and then of course, the music! From pop to rock to classical to movie soundtracks, I get to perform to whatever I choose!
And naturally, as often as I can, I perform to my favorite band-Garbage. From the first album I owned on cassette, to the most recent I’ve downloaded onto my iPhone, I love them all. I can listen to hours of Garbage on end-I’d definitely take them with me to the island! So today I am going to take a page out of my burlesque life and I am going to mix my love of Garbage and my love of Damian Lewis into my own Desert Island Discs! I identify a lot of things in my life with music. Almost every piece of music I love reminds me of some sweet moment, and sometimes a bittersweet one from a particular time in my life. I associate my memories with music so much so that I believe we all should have a life soundtrack. And I know my husband would tell you mine should be the soundtrack of the movie Amelie! 😀
It has been pretty easy to identify the pieces of music that reminds me of Damian, who is a very musical man, or several characters that he brings to life. The only challenge has been to limit the list to eight. I have done my best to choose the eight I feel most strongly about and I hope you enjoy them! Hi everyone! Damianista welcomes you to a NEW Fan Story Tuesday!
Today we bring you two stories in which two wonderful fans inevitably fall in love with the wonderfully charming and quirky Charlie Crews in Life!
The first story comes from Margit in Estonia who describes herself as a member of many fandoms where as the second story comes from Monique in France who describes herself as the biggest Damian Lewis fan. And we believe her! Monique is an amazing lady, a wonderful fan, and we cannot thank her enough for the constant support she has given to Fan Fun from its early days with her spirited, kind and encouraging remarks.
But for a brief glimpse of Bobby Axelrod filming a scene with Wendy Rhoades, Damian is mostly just being himself these days, spending the weeks working in New York, jetting back home to be on the wife’s arm at her film screening in London. So why not revisit a character that Damian has said is the one role that was most like him in real life? The thinking man with a sunny disposition: Charlie Crews. Here’s my visit with Life.
