Damian Lewis Created a Monster

I’ll admit to not being the most educated person. I spent most of high school just trying to pass the time and get out with a diploma. I wasn’t a bad student, but when you decide on beauty school in your sophomore year, suddenly AP History and three hours a night of homework seem kind of like a waste of time. And I certainly didn’t spend my two study halls a day reading up on history, math or science. Now, as an adult, I am revisiting these subjects with a newly-found appreciation. I am learning things as a 36 year old woman that most people learn in high school. The history of The Tudors has been my newest interest, and I have Wolf Hall to thank for opening me up to something new. Continue reading “Damian Lewis Created a Monster”

When the winners are announced on April 24, we’ll be tuning in to see this once-in-a-lifetime production hopefully win for some, if not all, of these categories for which it has been nominated.

Today we learn the remainder of the nominations for Wolf Hall for the BAFTA TV Awards.

Why Damian Lewis Deserves a Golden Globe for his Henry VIII in Wolf Hall

“Henry VIII is a monster, but he’s our monster. No other nation has a king who had six wives and cut the heads off two. We’re perversely proud of Henry.” – Hilary Mantel

Well, I wrote this blog post to celebrate Henry VIII’s birthday in June as a personal tribute to my Henry — Damian Lewis — for storming Wolf Hall but it also works perfectly to celebrate this day! Damian Lewis has just received a Golden Globe nomination for his fantastic portrayal of Henry VIII in Wolf Hall – congratulations!

Wolf Hall has received 3 Golden Globe nominations — Best TV Mini Series or Movie, Best Actor in a Mini Series or TV Movie (Mark Rylance), and Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Mini Series or TV Movie (Damian Lewis)!  Congratulations to everyone involved in the making of one of the best, if not the best, mini-series that ever happened to TV!

If it was up to us, Damian Lewis would need to work 24/7 :)

I told you earlier about how many blog posts come out of our casual conversations within the team. This is yet another one.

Being the two huge Harry Potter fans that we are, Bookworm and I are talking about the NEW Harry Potter play with now adult Harry & Co. and focusing on Harry’s son Albus Severus the other day. And just because we really want our favorite actor to have a part in our favorite fiction, I come up with the idea that, being red head and all, why not Damian play the adult Ron Weasley? And Bookworm comes up with a much better idea that I will not spoil here – she should write on that Harry Potter character she believes Damian would kill in! So… you get the idea… Going deep in conversation about roles we think Damian Lewis would be PERFECT for is a favorite pastime in our team and our typical joke is if it had been up to us, the poor guy would have to run from set to set and set to stage and back for 24/7 and not have a minute to spare for his family or for his sleep or for himself… So… Thank God it is not up to us!
