Damian Lewis loves BOOKS, so do we! Part I

Books Are My Bag (BAMB) is a nationwide campaign in the UK and Ireland, the biggest collaboration between publishers, bookstores and authors to date, to celebrate bookstores. And it is now back October 8-10, 2015 to put wonderful bookshops on spotlight!

I found out about Books are My Bag campaign last year thanks to certain someone supporting the campaign… Thank you, Damian Lewis, for loving books, loving bookstores, and supporting Books Are My Bag!

BAMB website says “in fact, 56% of all book buying decisions are made by consumers in a bookshop and high street bookshops (both chains and independents) still account for almost 40% of books bought by consumers. Yet, many high street bookshops are under threat.”

Oh, yes, they are… they are under a real threat everywhere. Continue reading “Damian Lewis loves BOOKS, so do we! Part I”

We got the first hint during the filming of  “Our Kind of Traitor.”

In one of the scenes filmed on the banks of River Thames in London, Damian Lewis was dressed head to toe in Aquascutum.

Damian’s character, Hector Meredith wore the trademark raincoat, had thick rimmed glasses, and the Harrys of London for Aquascutum Julian Kudu Suede Dark Brown Desert Boots.

Coming Soon: Damian Lewis at New Yorker Festival

September 7, 2015 Monday started as a typical morning for me… I got up, checked my email, saw this email from the New Yorker saying their festival line-up was now up, and I said “Ok I will check it when I am back from my morning run”…  Then I was off to my “5 miles of music and planning the day in my mind”… at the end of which I casually checked Twitter… and I saw THIS!

Throwback Thursday to an ’80s Cultural icon: SONY Walkman

"I remember going to work with one of those enormous,
brick-like Walkmans that we all used to have..."

One of the great things about writing on Damian Lewis is that he’s from my generation. This essentially means I very easily relate to a lot of things about him, from the football team he supports, the pop culture references he makes, his sense of humor or the music he likes — I know some people have found his music taste “unsophisticated” on Desert Island Discs, but hey, we both grew up in the 80s, cut us some slack please ☺ And so some of the stories I write are mine as much as his… like… this one!

Today’s throwback takes us back to 1980s, to a big cultural icon and a real coolness symbol when we happened to be teenagers: SONY Walkman… And to some “tasteful” 80s music as well! 🙂
