An Advertising Sketch Artist: TonyaJ’s Dream Role for Damian Lewis

Hi everyone! Damianista here. Today’s dream role for Damian Lewis comes from TonyaJ, a wonderful admirer of our favorite actor. I am not calling her a fan for reasons you will find out in her brilliant essay.

TonyaJ commented on the dream roles Gingersnap and I had in mind for Damian on Twitter and we started a conversation. When she mentioned her dream role for Damian, I kindly asked her whether she would like to contribute to our dream role series, and here we are! Huge thanks go to TonyaJ for taking the time to write for the blog. And with this, I am leaving you with her dream role for Damian Lewis. Enjoy! The Most Famous Spy in the World: Dark Horse’s Dream Role for Damian Lewis

Hello all! Damianista here.

Dark Horse is one of the first, if not the first, fans that followed our Facebook page the day Fan Fun with Damian Lewis came to life almost seven years ago. She wrote her brilliant story for our Fan Story Series, followed the footsteps of Milo Shakespeare in Grosmont, Wales, and has become an occasional contributor on Fan Fun! We are thrilled to share her dream role for Damian today. Big thanks go to Dark Horse for taking the time to write about her dream role which I know many in the Damian Lewis fandom share. ENJOY!

A Misunderstood Genius: Gingersnap’s Dream Role for Damian Lewis

About this project: I started thinking what meaty role I’d like to see Damian play when I shared my idea with Damianista. She said go for it. I wrote my piece and it sat collecting dust waiting for others to think of their dream role. I had all but given up when Damianista wrote her dream role, and it snowballed from there. Now we have over 20 dream role contributions thanks to the fans! We started publishing the dream roles and then the unthinkable happened. Damian lost Helen. We lost Helen. The world lost Helen. Such a deep, deep wound. We needed to push the pause button for obvious reasons and we are now resuming the series, starting with mine. We will publish everyone’s dream role thereafter. Here we go (again)!

Chameleon. That’s the first word that comes to mind when I think of Damian’s acting abilities. He can play anything, and brilliantly so! Over the years many have proposed ideal roles they could see him portray.

The Physicality of Bobby Axelrod in
Billions

Damianista’s note: One of the many qualities Damian Lewis brought to the character of Bobby Axelrod in Billions is his incredible physicality. And while I originally shared this post a couple of years ago, I think it is a good time to revive it and celebrate Damian for creating one of the most iconic TV characters in the golden age of TV.

Bobby Axelrod in Billions Season 6 *UPDATED*

While I am one of the biggest, if not the biggest, fans of Damian Lewis, I am not one of the “No Axelrod, No Billions” viewers. I still watch and enjoy the show – especially detect the differences as well as the similarities between the billionaire who left and the one who took his seat and renamed his company! And, if you are one of the people who stopped watching after Axe left, believe me, Axe may not be present physically in the show now but he is absolutely there in spirit. Axe is a ghost in Season 6.

Once Mike Prince has taken over as the boss, there is an inevitable transition from Axe Capital to Mike Prince Capital. And as Prince warms up to his CEO seat, he constantly reminds other characters in the show – varying  from the State AG Chuck Rhoades to an employee at MPC – that he is different from the previous guy, and moreover, he is a better leader with a superior vision.
