Behind the Scenes with Damian Lewis: The Making of Keane

Alex Gansa knewĀ he had the actor to play Nicholas Brody in HomelandĀ once he saw Damian Lewis’ performance in Keane.

ā€œEvery ounce of me wanted to go home and pour a gin-and-tonic, but I thought, let me see if itā€™s streaming on Netflix. I looked on my computer and put on my headphones and opened my laptop and there was this little movie. The first forty-five minutes of the film are essentially Damian on camera. I hit pause and picked up the phone and called the studio head and said, ā€˜This is just an incredible performanceā€”a damaged person on camera holding the frame.Ā ā€

Falling for The Man Who Hardly Breathes: Tsvetanka’s Story

Hi everyone! Damianista welcomes you to a NEW Fan Story Tuesday!

Tsvetanka and I met on Fan Fun Facebook page. And it may be thanks to being from the same part of the world, she grew up in Bulgaria and I grew up in Turkey, that we clicked almost immediately. The two of us have much in common but we have our differences, too: For example, I am way shameless when it comes to asking Damian Lewis for a selfie where as Tsvetanka is extremely thoughtful about not taking his precious time and occupying his personal space… until a certain ā€œenablerā€ starts to work on herā€¦ Ā I am happy to report Tsvetanka finally took her chance on the last day of The Goat! She was still too shy to ask for a photo but got a lovely autograph!Ā 🙂

“Damian’s not mortal, that’s not true”: Tiffany’s Story

Tiffany does A LOT to help all in need both in her professional life as a therapist and in her private life as an extremely caring and giving person. Why Damian? Why is Damian special? Damian is exceptional at his craft, his depth of character is conveyed in each role he portrays. There’s a distinct level of realism that Damian achieves in each character that I’ve seen no other performer reach. As a therapist I am fascinated by his performance in Keane. So real to life that it was initially hard to watch. He captured the delicate balance of suffering, creativity and compassion that many with mental illness struggle to cope with in every day life.
