“Is she the tutor?” or How I became a Fan of Damian Lewis, The Man: Lewisto’s Story

Hi everyone! Damianista welcomes you to a NEW Fan Story Tuesday!

Most of you know Lewisto, my husband and partner-in-crime, who occasionally writes for Fan Fun. Today is Lewisto’s birthday and I thought it would be fun to share his fan story on this special day. Some of you may have read this story because we originally published it two years ago. However, since it is the story of how Lewisto became a Damian Lewis fan it truly belongs in this Fan Story Series.

You will notice that while it is an extremely funny story centered around Damian, Lewisto’s story is quite personal and it says as much about the two of us as about Damian. I do not intend to give any spoilers but if you think of Carrie and Brody as the best cat and mouse you have ever seen… well, you ain’t seen nothing yet 😀

ENJOY!

Following the Footsteps of our Resident Londoner

Gotta love it when a passing thought from one post leads to an entire new fully-fleshed-out post. I had remarked, during my two-week tour in London, I was reminded often of places I’d seen Damian in images and film. In particular, when I was walking from Shakespeare’s Globe west towards Blackfriars Bridge along the Thames Path I looked down to the river and saw the moss covered walls where Damian and Helen leaned and loafed for a photoshoot, as well as the pier under which Hector made a phone call in Our Kind of Traitor.

That bit of Proustian mind-wandering lead Damianista to the thought, “Hey, why not do a post where we follow along in Damian’s footsteps throughout London?” “Isn’t that a bit stalkery?” I worried. “Nah,” we both concluded. Happily, Damian knows we are the most harmless variety of stalkers he could ever have. So, here it is, a catalog of all the places and sites where we “saw” Damian, characters he’s played, and stories he’s been a part of in his beloved home town.

Damian Lewis on Stage: American Buffalo

Damian Lewis is making a wonderful return to stage in Edward Albee’s late masterpiece The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? tomorrow and here is the last installment in our countdown. It is obviously a bittersweet end to our countdown with London in our minds and our hearts today. Please stay safe, everyone!

Damian takes quite a long break from stage – 6 years – after he does The Misanthrope with Keira Knightley and Tara Fitzgerald at Comedy Theatre. And after three seasons of Homeland, a season of Wolf Hall, three movies, an Emmy and a Golden Globe later, in 2015, he makes a wonderful comeback to stage as Walter “Teach Cole” in David Mamet’s American Buffalo… which also goes into history as the first time I see my favorite actor on stage. TOP Damian Lewis Moments 2015: American Buffalo

We have no intention whatsoever of ranking TOP Damian Lewis moments of the year; however, one incomparably exciting moment in 2015 — well, all 10 weeks of it — was to have our favorite actor back on stage in an incredibly dynamic performance in American Buffalo. In fact, Evening Standard agrees and includes Damian in its list of the most influential people in London Theatre in 2015. Besides, this is a moment where Damian shines as a brilliant actor, as a kind individual as well as a guy who knows how to have a good time!

He has a FUN story to tell. Because it’s his story I don’t intend to give any spoilers — except for saying if you think of Carrie and Brody as the best cat and mouse you have ever seen… you ain’t seen nothing yet 😀

Folks, I have a fun story to tell.

First, let me put the record straight: We are a lucky generation. Our life time has given us geniuses of all sorts, from Maradona to Michael Jackson, to Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Banksy, Steve Jobs, Mandela, Philip Glass, Haruki Murakami, Serena Williams…. and our very own Damian Lewis.
