TOP Damian Lewis Moments 2016: Hand in Hand

“Marry someone you love and someone who you like. I am incredibly lucky. We are constantly apart and in stimulating situations; it’s feast or famine.” –Helen McCrory

It is no secret we adore this couple and we are extremely pleased to end this year — exactly like we did last year — with some TOP Damian & Helen moments 2016!

Well, it is obviously not easy to be two ridiculously talented actors living together and raising a family. I remember Damian telling us at Cheltenham Literature Festival that the problem never goes away:

“When you’re two actors living together, you’re always asked to do work away from your home, so you just have to decide which ones are important enough to go and do away from home and try to spend the rest of the time together.”

And that is exactly what Damian and Helen have done in 2016.

Part I: The Feast

Both Damian and Helen were in London the first half of the year, and, oh man, were they busy or what? Here are just a few of our favorite things from the feast 🙂

And the National Centre for Circus Arts Gala Dinner, too!

We already know our favorite couple invests time and energy for good causes. And this year has been no different. As ambassadors for Prince’s Trust, a youth charity that helps young people get jobs and education, Damian and Helen were at the Trust’s Centre to celebrate the Trust’s 40th Anniversary, where they met both the Queen and Prince Charles.

They also made time together to support the arts and a new generation of young artists! Helen is a patron of Sir Hubert von Herkomer Arts Foundation which gives first class arts education to kids from underprivileged neighborhoods who might otherwise not be able to have it. Damian and Helen attended an exhibition showcasing students’ art work at University College School in Hampstead and chatted with students about their work.

They also participated in Keats-Shelley Awards 2016 reading excerpts from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein to celebrate the theme of this year’s competition “After Frankenstein.” One of the award winners was a 16 year old poet who won the first prize in Young Romantics poetry competition.

You can enjoy a little piece of the reading in the video below. I don’t know about you, but Damian’s “Where can I find rest but in death?” gives me the goosebumps.

Damian and Helen constantly supported each other’s careers! Damian accompanied Helen to the Peaky Blinders Season 3 Premiere at BFI Southbank, London. And, hey, seriously, I WANT Helen’s dress!

Helen got rave reviews for her Hester in Deep Blue Sea including but not limited to “Helen McCrory blazes!” from The Guardian to “Helen McCrory is fantastic!” from The Times and to “Helen McCrory mines the depths of despair quite wonderfully” from The Telegraph. And rave reviews are obviously very rewarding for an actress but, hey, nothing can beat this!

Gotta LOVE this guy!

Damian was in the audience as Helen was awarded an honorary Doctorate degree at the University of York Graduation Ceremony.

I mean, look at him! If this is not a guy who is so in love with and so proud of his wife, who is?

Part II: The Famine

According to a Daily Mail interview with Helen, the family’s original plan for the fall was as follows:

“This year in September, after I finish the play at the National, he will be filming in New York so I will go over with the kids. Damian filming and me playing my greatest role to date: mother and wife.”

But as Damian rightly pointed out earlier… and I quote him one more time:

“When you’re two actors living together, you’re always asked to do work away from your home, so you just have to decide which ones are important enough to go and do away from home and try to spend the rest of the time together.”

So the plans seem to have changed when Helen got this brilliant lead role as Emma Blunt, who is “a solicitor known for defending lost causes” in ITV’s new legal thriller FearlessDamian had the kids and the family dog with him in New York and Helen visited them when she had time off from filming her new series.

Damian and Helen attended the screening of Franca: Chaos and Creation at Metrograph, a new and pretty cool movie theater in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, followed by a private dinner party organized by Anna Wintour at her own home to celebrate the film.

And according to an article by Liz Smith of New York Social Diary, our favorite couple also attended a private dinner party at La Grenouille where Smith was seated next to Damian and had a lovely chat with him where he talked about his children and lauded Helen. During dessert, Helen comes to visit their table and kneels down to chat. And when Smith tells her how her husband had raved about her, Helen just laughs and says: “He is SO lucky!”

I cannot agree more. He is SO lucky! 🙂

And I don’t know where I will wear this but I WANT this dress, too!

Helen was also in New York during Thanksgiving and the family was spotted watching the Thanksgiving Parade, visiting The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum as well as seeing the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. We have this principle on our blog that we never get to post Lewis-McCrory kids’ pictures out of respect for the family’s privacy but since they knew this particular picture taken backstage would make its way onto social media, we break our own rule and celebrate this beautiful family here.

And now that they wrapped Billions Season 2 and Damian was spotted shopping at a supermarket in London last weekend, we know that the family is back together at home for the holidays.

So it’s FEAST TIME all around <3

UPDATE December 31, 2016: This just in! Helen McCrory has just been awarded an OBE in New Year’s Honours List 2017. The year seems to be ending on a real high note in Lewis-McCrory household. Congratulations, Helen!

We wish Lewis-McCrory family and all our readers a WONDERFUL New Year. See you in 2017!

  1. Oh so jealous they got to see the Rockettes! Lovely write up, I am so happy that our favorite guy has this wonderful woman in his life, and vice versa! And the kiddos have such a lovely relationship to learn from. Having parents who are fantastic and in love really makes an impact on how functional you are as an adult in your relationships. Cheers to the whole lot of them!!

    1. Hey, come here next year around holidays time and let’s go see the Rockettes together! I’ve never seen them, either!!! Who knows maybe we can combine it with a Billions event or something? I have so high expectations from 2017 including getting to meet my blog sisters (the ones I still haven’t met) in flesh!!!!

They are so cute together as a couple as well as a family. And Damian and Helen look like best friends which I believe is also a key factor for happy relationships.

Cheers to a happy and healthy 2017, dear sis, lots of love <3

      1. My plan, if I don’t get there any sooner, is my 40th in new York for their show for my birthday! Maybe I can swing it sooner, eh?
